John Pritchard began his career as a potter, however, for the past 8 years he has been worklng with and exhibiting acrylic 3-D mixed media sculpture. This work is primarily blown and/or thermoformed acrylic that may also have been hand dyed. The pieces may also contain photo gels, metal, wood, marble, anodized aluminum, or other materials. John's work can be found in numerous private and public collections in the United States and foreign countries including Japan, Denmark, Germany, England, Holland, France, Germany, Australia, and in the permanent collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, WI. John graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1972 with degrees in philosophy and rhetoric. In addition, he also studied clay with Roger Gottschalk, head of the art department. After graduation John attended the Lake Placid School for Music, Drama and Art, and then attended Kansas State University where he taught design while taking advanced studies in clay. Since 1975 John has been a professional artist with a studio in Wisconsin. For the past several years he has also been teaching clay methods at the West Bend Art Museum, West Bend, WI.
